Single Origin: Sumatra Mandheling
Grown on the Indonesian island of Sumatra, Sumatra Mandheling beans are known as much for its smooth, full body as its rich, complex taste. Sumatra Mandheling coffee grows in Padang’s west-central region between 500-1500m.
This coffee is described as earthy and intense with an herbal aroma and just enough acidity to provide vibrancy. Mandheling coffee often exhibits tones of sweet chocolate and hints of licorice.
We roast this coffee to a rich dark roast bringing out the coffee’s sweet taste as well as its earthy qualities.
Recipe for the perfect cup of Lions Bay Coffee
- Use fresh, cold, filtered water and ensure your coffee maker/machine is clean
- Select the best grind for your brewing method and grind just before brewing:
- Espresso = Fine Grind
- Filtered = Medium Grind
- French Press = Coarse Grind
- Measure 2 rounded tablespoons (15g) ground coffee for every 8 oz. (227 ml) water.
Coffee has 4 enemies: Heat, Moisture, Light and Air. To help preserve the freshness of your beans, keep your coffee cool, dry and dark in an airtight container (not in the refrigerator). Grind and brew your beans within a week of opening.
